Prince George Hosts Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League Showcase Matches

Edmonton, AB – The city of Prince George will host two Showcase Matches to gauge the viability of possible Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League expansion into East Central British Columbia.

The Edmonton Drillers, one of four CMISL franchises which began regular season play in January, will kick off against Prince George F.C. in challenge matches scheduled for CN Centre April 5 and 6.

Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Drillers are the 2008 Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League champions.

Edmonton scored an 8-7 victory over Calgary United FC at St. Albert’s Servus Place Friday night to win the CMISL Champions trophy and lay claim to the inaugural CMISL title.

The championship featured the CMISL’s top two seeds in a one-game, winner-take-all showdown.

Jarin Myskiw paced the Drillers attack with a hat trick, while Damir Jesic scored a pair of one-point goals for United FC.



Battle of Alberta For Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League Title and Champions Trophy

Edmonton, AB – The Battle of Alberta moves to St. Albert’s Servus Place as the Edmonton Drillers and Calgary United FC square off in the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League championship tonight at 7:05.

As the top two seeds in the standings, the Drillers and United FC will compete for the CMISL Champions trophy and inaugural league title in the one game, winner-take-all showdown.



Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League Unveils Champions Trophy

Edmonton, AB – The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League unveiled today the trophy that will be presented to the 2008 league champion and serve as the symbol of CMISL supremacy in future.

The trophy’s black base is comprised of three tiers with a silver “C.M.I.S.L. Champions” plaque attached to the upper-most tier. A silver and black No. 5 soccer ball sits atop the wooden base.



CMISL Announces Officials For Championship Game

Edmonton, AB -- The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League announced today the officiating staff for the inaugural championship game.

Dave Gantar has been named head referee, Fabrizio Romano is assistant referee and Angelos Scapetorachis will be the box official for the championship game scheduled for March 14 at St. Albert’s Servus Place.

Tyler Duggan and Martin Hopwood are in charge of the penalty boxes; Murray Milavsky and Tiago Santos are the goal judges; and Sheena Law is in charge of the time clock.



Edmonton Wins on Road, Finishes First in CMISL

Saskatoon, SK -- The Edmonton Drillers defeated the Saskatoon Accelerators by a score of 11-6 in the final game of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League’s 2008 regular season at Credit Union Centre Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Drillers halted their one-game, mini-skid and secured top spot in the CMISL standings. The triumph over Saskatoon also marked Edmonton’s first road win of the season.



Calgary United FC Wins Third Straight on Road, Moves Into First

Edmonton, AB -- The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League’s Calgary United FC scored an 8-5 victory over the Edmonton Drillers at St. Albert’s Servus Place Friday night.

United FC’s third consecutive road victory allowed the side to move into top spot in the CMISL standings. With the victory, Calgary finished the 10-game regular season with a record of 8-2.

Saskatoon, SK -- The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League's Calgary United FC claimed the final berth in the league championship with a doubleheader sweep of the Saskatoon Accelerators at Credit Union Centre Sunday afternoon.

Calgary posted a 6-3 victory in the opener and blanked their hosts 5-0 in the nightcap. Calgary now faces the Edmonton Drillers in the CMISL’s one-game championship playoff scheduled for March 14 at St. Albert’s Servus Place.



Edmonton Clinches Berth in CMISL Championship

Edmonton AB -- The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League's Edmonton Drillers guaranteed themselves a berth in the league championship with a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Winnipeg Alliance Football Club at Servus Place Friday night.

The Drillers rolled to an 8-3 victory in the opening game of the twinbill before posting a 3-0 win in the nightcap.
